Politics seems to be the next choice for cricketers after retirement and we have seen many cricketers embarking into politics including Kirti Azad, Azaruddin, to name some. The latest addition of a cricketer into politics will be Bengal tiger Saurabh GangulySpeculation was rife on that Saurav Ganguly may soon join BJP

As per reports Sourav Ganguly is busy with talks to join the ruling BJP and he was in touch with some noted BJP leaders. The Indian cricket captain told that BJP had approached him during Lok Sabha polls but no one had contacted him after that. Ganguly retored from crickret in 2008 and from then Ganguly has been sought after by many political parties. He had reportedly turned down the BJP’s offer to contest last year’s national election. There was speculation that Narendra Modi had offered to make him sports minister at that time.

Ganguly’s induction in the BJP could have strengthened party base in West Bengal and posed a tough challenge to ruling Trinamool Congress. From few days Trinamool Congress is losing key leaders to BJP party. Recently Manjul Krishna Thakur, a minister in the Mamata Banerjee government, joined the BJP last Friday and there are reports that Dinesh Trivedi, a founding member of the party, and four more state ministers will soon shift the loyalties.
