K.Chennai, November 16 : , Chief Minister M.K.Stalin on Tuesday launched the Tamil Nadu Mission on Sustainable Green Cover in Farm Lands.Stalin launched Tuesday’s Tamil Nadu Mission on Sustainable Green Cover for Farm Lands.Under this project, 73 lakh high-value saplings worth Rs 11.24 crore would be distributed to farmers.This project will see the distribution to farmers of 73 lakh saplings with high value and a total cost of Rs 11.24 Crore.
A government order issued on Tuesday said that teak, red sandal, acacia, sandal, vengai, manjal kadambu, rosewood, malai vembu, mahogony, poovarasu, and kaarumaruthu are the saplings that would be distributed among the farmers.

On Tuesday, the government issued a decree stating that saplings of teak, red sandal and acacia would be distributed to farmers.

The government would collect these saplings at a cost of Rs 15 per piece from the state forest department and distribute them among the farmers for free.

These saplings would be collected by the government at Rs 15/piece from the state forest office and distributed to farmers free of cost.An inspection team will verify the survival of the saplings and based on their report, an amount of Rs 7 will be given as subsidy to the farmers during the second, third and fourth year after distribution of these high-value saplings.

A team of inspectors will inspect the survival of these saplings.Based on the report of this inspection, a subsidy amount of Rs 7 would be provided to farmers in the third, fourth, and fifth years after the distribution of high-value saplings.

At least 30 per cent of the budget allocated for supply of saplings is earmarked for women farmers and 50 per cent for small and marginal farmers.Minimum 30% of budget for sapling supply is allocated to women farmers, and 50% for marginal and small farmers.

A statement released by the Chief Minister’s Office said the farmers can collect the saplings from the forest department nurseries after producing the registration slip issued by the Block Agricultural Extension centres.According to a statement by the Chief Minister’s Office, farmers will be able to collect their saplings at the forest department nurseries if they have produced the Block Agricultural Extension Centres registration slip.
