New Delhi, Dec 5, : , Two key suspects “confessed” to police their involvement in the murder and torture of a Sialkot factory manager from Sri Lanka, The News reported. Priyantha, who was a manager at a Sialkot private factory on Wazirabad Road, was tortured to death.
His body was set ablaze by a mob on December 3rd over “blasphemy” allegations.
Sources close to the investigation claim that the Punjab government presented an initial report for the Prime Minister.
According to the preliminary report submitted by the provincial government, there was a dispute when Priyantha Karma removed posters from the factory’s walls at 10:28 AM.According to The News, the posters were inscribed with The Name of the Holy Prophet.
The factory owner arrived on the scene and quickly resolved the problem.According to the report, Kumara had apologized for any misunderstandings.
Kumara’s apology was accepted and the workers were dispersed.
The report said that some workers incited their coworkers to attack the manager.
Within minutes, a mob formed around the victim and attacked the industrial unit.Eventually, the mob killed him.
As the attack took place, 13 security guards were present at the factory.According to the report, none of them attempted to rescue the victim or disperse mob members.
Later, Kumara’s body was dragged out of the factory and set on fire.
Officials said that police received a call from the public about the incident at 11:28am.They added that a police team reached the scene within 12 minutes.
