New Delhi, Dec 5, : , Pakistan is the largest recipient for eye donations from Sri Lanka.It has received at least 35,000 corneas in total since 1967, according to Dr Niaz Brohi of Samaa TV. He is a member from Pakistan of the Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society.
He lamented the Sialkot incident, and then said: “Sri Lanka gave us eyes, but have lost our sight.”
Dr Brohi claims that he has been grieving since Friday’s murder of Sri Lankan national Priyanathakumuara in Sialkot.According to the report, he said that “We hang on to shame”.
To express condolences, he wrote to the Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society.
Brohi, who was once the head of Spencer Eye Hospital in Karachi has performed many cornea transplants.
He stated that Sri Lanka had donated 83,200 corneas in different countries around the world.
Brohi claims that Pakistan is the largest recipient for Sri Lankan cornea donations, having received 40% of them.
According to the report, 35,000 Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society corneas have been donated to Pakistan since 1967.
