Southwest monsoon further advances into Telugu states, says IMD

The Indian Meteorological Department has forecasted that the southwest monsoon is expected to hit the state of Andhra Pradesh at Tuni, Bhadrachalam in Telangana, Maharashtra and Gujarat as well as several parts of North Bengal due to the strong southwesterly winds in the Arabian Sea.As a result, low pressure is expected in the Bay of Bengal on the 11th of this month, the IMD said.

There is a possibility of light to moderate rains with thunders in both the Telugu states on Thursday and Friday due to the onset of the Southwest monsoon.IMD forecasted that the low pressure in the Arabian sea would result in heavy rains in some parts of the Telugu states.

The Amravati Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rains in some parts of the northern coast of Andhra Pradesh.

Daytime temperatures across the state hovered between 33-39 degrees on Thursday as an impact of westerly winds.

Rayalaseema and the south coast of Andhra Pradesh received hot winds, while the northern coast of Andhra Pradesh received light to moderate rains.On the other hand, monsoons are expected to intensify soon in the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal.
