Lucknow, Nov 28, : As a precautionary measure, all flyers from South Africa, Botswana, and Hong Kong will be required to undergo a 10-day home isolation.
This applies to Lucknow residents who visit these countries upon their return.

Omicron variant (B.1.1.529) has been declared a ‘variant concern’ by the World Health Organisation.

“All foreign travelers will also be tested by RT-PCR at airport,” said Dr Manoj Agrawal (CMO), who met with representatives of immigration and the Airport Health Organisation on Saturday.

Travellers to these countries will need to adhere to the 10-day home isolation rule, even if they are negative for Covid-19 at an airport.

If they are positive, travellers to these countries will need to isolate themselves at their home.

Random inspections will be conducted by health department teams and community-based healthcare centres to determine if these people are following isolation rules.

The CMO stated that these people will be contacted daily for ten days to verify their status.

The number of active Covid-19 cases has dropped to 11 in Lucknow, with three more patients regaining their health in the last 24 hours.One new case was reported.

On Sunday, a special Covid-19 vaccination drive is being held in the district.

The health department will install 240 booths at 135 vaccination centers.These include 10 district hospitals and 19 community healthcare centers, 18 primary healthcare centers, and 88 special camps.Rural areas would receive special attention.

Dr Manoj Agrawal, CMO, stated that “people can simply walk into with a government-recognized photo ID to get vaccinated.”
