Colombo 16 August : The fight between the Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is at a crucial phase with the SLC administrators seeking Sri Lankan rupees 2 billion from former captain Arjuna Ranatunga over false and derogatory remarks.
The SLC stated in an announcement that they have sent letters of Demand (LOD) in the amount of the sum of Rs 2 billion to Ranatunga who is the new chair of the National Sports Council/

The SLC in its statement stated that it was the SLC Executive Committee at an emergency meeting that was held on Monday, decided to take legal action against the former World Cup winning captain of the cricket team after deliberating for a long time about the “false, derogatory and misleading statement” that Ranatunga made during an interview with media.

The statement said that Ranatunga “has made remarks with intention to harm, causing damage to the reputation and goodwill of the SLC and has deliberately made public statements in which they have made false and defamatory claims against the Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket.”

In the same vein, Members of the Executive Committee have sent Letters of Demand to Arjuna Ranatunga, seeking the sum of Rs.2 billion as compensation for the damage of reputation caused to Sri Lanka Cricket and its officials due to the false and derogatory comment.
