Galle 21 Nov : .West Indies debutant Jeremy Solozano was injured in his head when he fielded at the forward leg of the Test match against Sri Lanka.
Solozano needed to be taken to the hospital.Solozano was unable to continue due to the force of the hit. It happened during day one at Galle Stadium, on the 4th ball of the 24th over.
Roston Chase made a quick delivery to Dimuth Karunaratne, the captain of Sri Lanka.
Karunaratne responded with a strong pull shot from the back-foot in direction Solozano.Solozano had very little time for ducking.
He was hit in the head with his helmet grille, and the rear portion of his helmet fell off when he struck the ground.
Solozano sat still on the ground with his back to the physio, who was tending to him.Phil Simmons, West Indies’ coach looked worried in the dressing room.Solozano was therefore taken off the field by medical personnel and transported in an ambulance to the hospital.
“Injury Update.After receiving a hit to the helmet during fielding, Debutant Jeremy Solozano had to be taken off the field.The hospital has taken him for scans.We hope for a quick recovery.Once we have more information, we will update you.”Shai Hope is currently the substitute fielder,” tweeted Windies Cricket.
Sri Lanka is now at 110/0 after choosing to bat first in 41 overs.At the crease, Karunaratne (59 runs not out), and Pathum Nika (43 runs not out).
