Chennai 6 August : Actress Simran and director Sangeeth Sivan were among the stars of the film industry who joined hundreds of supporters from across the nation in sending their congratulations to Indian athletes such as wrestler Sakshi Malik, who has put on a spectacular performance during the CommonWealth Games. Sakshi Malik was the winner of the gold medal in the women’s 62kg class at the CWG.She did a great job of bouncing back from a 0-4 deficit to beat the world champion under-23 Ana Godinez of Canada.It is interesting to note that this was the first gold award won by Sakshi in the CWG.Up until now, she had won a silver in 2014 and bronze in 2018 at the CWG.
Congratulations to Sakshi, Sangeeth Sivan confessed: “Had goosebumps and moist eyes when our National Anthem was played at the ceremony for medals, particularly because Sakshi Malik was on the podium.Thanks to the Indian contingent for giving us a lot of emotions this time in #CWG2022.”
