The Maharashtra Government under the CM Uddhav Thackery announced that Rs 100 crores would be spent on developing Pathri, the birthplace of Shirdi Sai Baba as per the government. This did not go well the Shri Sai Baba Sansthan Trust which looks after the famous Shirdi Sai Baba Temple in Shirdi.
Responding on the government order, the Sansthan Trust called for a strike in Shirdi and has also shut down the temple.
‘We are calling for Shirdi strike, and shutting down the temple too.
The Shirdi Sai Baba Temple shut will down indefinitely. We appealed that if Pathri is developed, then the footfall for the Shirdi temple will come down drastically. It is here under the neem tree that Shirdi Sai was first seen.He came here at the age of 16 in 1854’, the Sansthan Trust said.It also confirmed that all sevas in the temple will come to halt.
Politically, the BJP jumped into the ongoing row and said that the controversy of Sai Baba’s birthplace came into picture only after Uddhav Thackery became the CM.
