Sex CD case: K’taka HC stays probe against Bengaluru top cops

Bengaluru, Nov 25, : The Karnataka High Court halted Thursday’s investigation into the Sex CD scandal against Bengaluru police chief and officers.This was a significant relief for them.

The policemen had filed a motion to the high court asking for an annulment of the investigation proceedings against them that were ordered by a lower court.This was in connection with the failure to register a case against a former minister of BJP in the “Sex CD” case.

The 8th ACMM court had also ordered that the report be submitted by February 1, 2022.

The court issued an order of inquiry to investigate offences under Section 16 of the IPC.It held police responsible for any delays in registering a First Information Report following a victim’s complaint.

Janaadhikara Sangharsha Parishath Co Preident Adarsh Iyer has filed a private complain against the police officers for failing to register case against Ramesh Jarkiholi, former minister of BJP, in connection with the alleged sex CD scam.

RTI activist Dinesh Kallahalli filed a complaint on March 17 seeking action for failure to register FIR regarding alleged offences sexual intercourse by someone in authority, such as the then Water Resources Minister Jarkiholi.

The complaint stated that the senior police officers were also accused, among other things, of failing to perform their duties in a proper manner and acting prejudicefully against complainant Kallahalli and the purported victim.

The complaint stated that the police officers “displayed gross negligence by bowing under the pressure of powerful ruling political classes, flouting laws of land and Supreme Court of India guidelines without impunity” and that they “brought disrepute” to the independent functioning of the Karnataka Police.
