Sex CD case: A court orders an investigation against Bengaluru’s police chief and other cops

Bengaluru, Nov 24, : On Wednesday, a Karnataka court ordered an investigation against Bengaluru Police Commissioner Kamal Pant.He is DCP Central M.N.Anuchet and Cubbon Park Police Station Inspector Maruthi were charged with failing to register a case against a former BJP Minister in the “Sex CD” case.
The 8th ACMM court has also ordered that the report be submitted by February 1, 2022.

The court issued an order of inquiry to investigate offences under Section 16 of the IPC.It held police responsible for any delays in registering a First Information Report following a victim’s complaint.

Janaadhikara Sangharsha Parishath Co Preident Adarsh R.Iyer filed a private complaint against the officers for not registering case against Ramesh Jarkiholi, former minister of BJP, in connection to the alleged sex CD scam.

The RTI activist Dinesh Kahalli filed the complaint on March 2, 2021 and it was registered on March 17.It seeks to take action for failing register FIR on alleged sexual intercourse by an authority such as Jarkiholi, then Water Resources Minister.

According to the complaint, the senior police officers are accused not of being disciplined and acting prejudicefully against complainant Kallahalli and the victim.

The complaint stated that the police officers “displayed gross negligence by bowing under the pressure of powerful ruling political classes, flouting laws of land and Supreme Court of India guidelines without impunity” and that they “brought disrepute” to the independent functioning of the Karnataka Police.
