Many high-ranking Congress officials in J&K quit after Azad quits

Srinagar on the 26th of August : In the wake of the resignation of senior Congress leader Ghulamnabi Azad’s resignation from his party on Friday evening, a few of senior leaders including former legislators of the party in Jammu and Kashmir also resigned.
They included G.M.Saroori, Haji Abdul Rashid, Muhammad Amin Bhat, Gulzar Ahmad Wani, and Choudhary Muhammad Akram.

“The President who is the new one of JKPCC is currently on his own.All of us are with Azad Sahib.He established new medical colleges as well as districts to J&K during his time as Chief Minister.

“He was a member of Dharna for the restoration of August 4, 2019, post in J&K.

He has been a great servant to the citizens of J&K and we all stand with his efforts,” Saroori told reporters when he announced his resignation.

A different senior Congress leader Salman Nizami said: “Azad Sahib has made the reasons for his resignation crystal clear in his resignation letter of five pages.

“I am a worker at the ground level of the Congress for the past 15 years.We have all quit Congress in favor of Azad Sahib.”

The former J&K minister R.S.Chib is also leaving his party.

In the coming days, in the days to come, more Congress officials from J&K are likely to quit following which Azad will likely to start an entirely new party which would be led by him and take part in the Assembly elections.
