Paladugu Venkat Rao, senior leader from Congress party passed away early morning on Monday.He was undergoing treatment for ill health due to age at Apollo Hospital.

Born in Gogulampadu village of Krishna District, Paladugu joined in youth congress in 1968.He was elected as MLA from Nuziveedu twice in 1978 and 1989.

He became MLC in 1972 and became Rural Development Minister in Anjaiah cabinet after getting elected from Nuziveedu in 1978 for the first time.The veteran leader is also known for donating his residential building in Nuzvid to Andhra Pradesh Horticulture University to start a Rythu Seva Kendram.

The body of the Congress leader was brought home and would be kept at Indira Bhavan premises till 3 pm.It would be shifted to Nuzvid in the evening and the last rites would be performed on Wednesday morning at his ancestral village.

Leaders across all parties expressed their shock at the sudden demise of Paladugu Venkat Rao.Several leaders like N.Raghuveera Reddy, AP Chief Minister, N.Chandrababu Naidu, Telangana PCC chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Congress Legislature Party leader in Telangana Assembly K.Jana Reddy, Leader of Opposition in Telangana Council D.Srinivas condoled his death.
