New Delhi, Nov 27, : , A senior Congress leader MukeshGoyal joined the Aam Aadmi Party in the presence Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi. Goyal lost the 2020 Assembly elections in Delhi to Pawan Sharma, AAP from Adarsh Nagar constituency.
16 other Congress members joined the AAP along with Goyal.This move was made months before the 2022 municipal corporation of Delhi (MCD), polls.
“Today, Aam Aadmi Party added Mukesh Goyal to its family.He has chosen to join our party because he saw the good work we did for Delhi’s people in terms of education, electricity and water.
Sisodia stated that Goyal, a man of Goyal’s standing, is joining AAP to show that people want to work for them.
Arvind Kejriwal, AAP convener and Delhi Chief minister, had earlier stated that he was in touch with his party through his visit to Punjab.
He also said that two MPs and 25 Congress MLAs were present.
Goyal was the Congress spokesperson and a member of All India Congress Committee (AICC).
He is also a former chairman of United MCD.
