F1 has reached an agreement with Shanghai-based racing to continue until 2025 despite these setbacks. This is a clear indication that F1 is committed to expanding its presence in China.

Xinhua reports that despite the absence of a Grand Prix in China, interest in F1 will increase next year as Zhou becomes the country’s first F1 driver.

Domenicali stated Tuesday that China could have a second Grand Prix if it was “100%” possible.

Domenicali stated that he could confirm that interest has already been shown by another city for a second Grand Prix in China.

The Italian said, “I’m certain the effect of Zhou being F1’s first Chinese driver in F1, (will have a huge impact) on the awareness (of F1in China).”

It is not known where the second Grand Prix of China will be held. The Shanghai International Circuit hosts the Chinese Grand Prix.It is the only track built specifically for the purpose of hosting a round in the F1 world championship.

One option is to stage a Grand Prix on a temporary circuit around China’s public roads. This would tie in with F1’s recent expansion efforts.

The sport will welcome a race through Miami next year. This weekend will also see the first Saudi Arabian Grand Prix on public roads in Jeddah.
