New Delhi, Aug 22 : The Supreme Court on Monday terminated the mandate of the Committee of Administrator (CoA) to oversee the business of All India Football Federation (AIFF) and also delayed the election, which was originally scheduled for August 28 until AIFF for a week to allow a change in the electoral college and the filing of nominations in accordance with new regulations.A bench comprising Justices D.Y.Chandrachud and A.S.Bopanna terminated the CoA and the day-to-day management will be handled by AIFF’s secretary general acting.It also stated that the executive council of AIFF for the next election will comprise 23 members – 17 members will be chosen by the electoral college and six members drawn from prominent players.
The bench said it is granting the order to facilitate the revocation of suspension of AIFF by FIFA and also to permit the hosting of the prestigious FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in India and also to allow the participation of Indian players and teams in international tournaments.
The court of supreme appeals ruled that the election officials (ROs) appointed by the court, who were appointed, will be considered as ROs appointed by the court as no objections have been filed by the competing parties and the election schedule can be amended by prolonging the date of elections by a time of one week.”Voters list” for the next election will comprise of 36 members of state/UT associations .,” added to the bench.
