Centurion 29 December : .Virat Kohli, Indian Test captain, ended 2021 without scoring an international century.
This was after his two failures at the first Test against South Africa that took place here at SuperSport Park. After scoring 35 runs in the first innings of the game, Kohli was left for dead at 33.In the second, he scored only 18 runs, losing to Marco Jansen.
In the first ball of Day 4, after Lunch, Kohli chased a broad delivery by Jansen.
Although the delivery was well beyond the boundaries, Kohli was able to press forward and produce a thick edge that was comfortably caught by Quinton de Kock.
This means that Kohli has now scored 536 runs in 2021, a meagre average of 28.21 across 11 Tests.In 2021, he managed only four fifties for Test cricket.
On November 23rd 2019, the Indian skipper reached an international century.He played the match-winning knock at 136 against Bangladesh in the Pink-Ball Day and Night Test match.
He has not scored an international century in the past two years.In addition, he also didn’t score a hundred in 2020 when COVID-19 disrupted cricket’s calendar.
Kohli’s 2021 was a memorable year.He decided to leave India’s T20I captaincy and was then removed from his post as ODI skipper.
