Centurion 25 December : .India’s head coach Rahul Dhavid stated that South Africa cricket is both challenging and exciting.The Indian cricket team is expected to perform well in international tours, he said. Dravid made these comments just days before India begins their Test series against South Africa at SuperSport Park, Centurion.
It’s been an amazing country to visit.It’s a challenging country, but it is also incredibly exciting to play cricket.South Africa is a place that holds many fond memories.I won my first match as captain here, and scored my Test hundred.
There were also some difficult moments, and series that proved to be very challenging.Even though we lost some games, this team reached the finals of 2003 World Cup.”So, that was another really great memory,” Dravid said in an uploaded video by the Board of Control for Cricket in India.
It’s an area that is passionate about cricket.The games are well-attended, well-supported and attended to.I’ve made many friends over the years but don’t get to see people often because of living in the bio bubble.Dravid said that he was looking forward to both the series and cricket.
Dravid also spoke out about how expectations have changed for the Indian team when it comes to touring abroad.
It has really evolved over the past few years.It is now expected that India will win every trip to another country, regardless of the format or whereabouts, and we should be able to compete, win and win well.
He also acknowledged the difficulty of trying to succeed in South Africa.It is an opportunity, but it’s not simple.
South Africa has some of the most difficult conditions for cricket, and it does play well at home.We need to do our very best.
It is a chance that the boys recognize, but it won’t be easy.We have to put in a lot of effort.
Dravid spoke about preparations for the Tests after arriving in Rainbow Nation.He said, “We’ve had four great days training at the centre wicket, and we had some very good practice sessions.” The boys’ dedication has been a great inspiration to me.It has been a pleasure to see the mental attitude of the boys as they prepare for Test matches.
We are well prepared with just a few days before the match.As we prepare for the Test match, we will continue to do so and will then concentrate on the main players squad.We’ll then take things from there.”
When asked about his expectations for the next series, the 48 year-old replied, “My expectation as coach is that my boys prepare well, and compete.This is what I expect them to do.They should be prepared and make every effort to win.The results should be good.
I don’t try to concentrate on them, or worry about losing or winning the series.Sometimes a lot is beyond your control.However, preparation and the level of intensity and competition that you bring to the field are all important.Dravid concluded, “If we can demonstrate that throughout the series which is my aim, then that’s all that I can ask for.”
