Johannesburg, January 1, : , South Africa’s batting legend Hashim Amla suggested that Temba Bavuma bat higher now that Quinton De Kock, the wicketkeeper has resigned from Test cricket.South Africa will face India here in the second Test, which begins on Monday. After losing their first Test by 113 runs to the hosts, the hosts are now trailing 0-1 in this three-match series. They will be looking to rebound and avoid a series loss at home.
De Kock announced his retirement shortly after the Centurion Test was completed.
Amla made some recommendations to the team.
Temba (de Kock) and Quinton are our two top middle batters.Quinton (de Kock) has opted out for Test cricket.
This further cripples our batting lineup and it is imperative that Temba bat higher,” Amla stated on Cricket South Africa’s official website.
Let him play a stabilizing role, not a recovery role.
It was a low-scoring match that I found Temba Bavuma enjoyable to watch.Amla said that he always appears to have time and is rarely stressed.”
Bavuma was unbeaten at 35 on the second wicket and scored fifty in South Africa’s first innings.Proteas lost for 191 and 197 at SuperSport Park.
They will need to improve their performance with bat next week in Johannesburg.
