Los Angeles, November 18th : .The film’s script supervisor filed suit against Alec Baldwin, an actor and producer, alleging that she was injured when Baldwin shot the cinematographer of the movie while she was preparing to shoot a scene. Gloria Allred, attorney for Mamie Mitchell represented her in the lawsuit filed against Mamie Mitchell at the Los Angeles Superior Court.Variety.com reports that she claims she stood just four feet away from Baldwin at the time the gun went off in her complaint.
The suit says that the plaintiff was afraid and worried for her life.
Plaintiff felt pain in her head and ears from the gunshot.
Plaintiff then began hearing loud, ringing sounds in her ears.Plaintiff was able to witness the horrendous events that had just occurred.
Halyna Hutchins, cinematographer, was shot and killed.Joel Souza was also wounded in his shoulder.
According to the suit, Baldwin should have checked that the gun was not loaded and accused producers of taking cost-cutting steps that contributed to the incident.
In addition, the lawsuit cites a text from the film’s camera operator in which he complains of accidental discharges that occurred on the set before the Oct 21 shooting.
Mitchell called 911 first after the incident.
Mitchell stated that he will never forget the events on “Rust” set, as Mitchell told a press conference held at Allred’s office.This terrible tragedy took away my joy in life.”I don’t want anything like what happened to our set to happen again.”
This is the second suit filed regarding the tragedy at Rust.Serge Svetnoy (the film’s director) filed another claim last week, saying that he was also in close proximity of Baldwin at the time the shot was fired.He claimed that he suffered emotional and physical harm as well.
Mitchell’s lawsuit asserts that Mitchell was assaulted, inflicted with emotional distress, and inflicted harm.
Baldwin, along with the producers of the movie, are named as defendants in the suit.Also, armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed, and Dave Halls, first assistant director, are also listed.
Ryan Donnell Smith and Allen Cheney are the producers and executive producers.Sharp.
According to the certificate submitted with the local cinema office, the production was covered by a Chubb liability policy with a limit of $6 million.
