The most renowned physician Dr V Thiruvengadam has recently died at Southern Railway Hospital.

The family members and doctors have confirmed his death not because of Covid-19 but a cardiac arrest.Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and other politicians grieved for his death and said he will remain as an inspiration to coming generations.

Tamil Super Star Vijay’s ‘Mersal’, which was dubbed as ‘Adirindi’ into Telugu, is inspired by the real-life character of Dr V Thiruvengadam.The film received high praise from the audience and became one of the blockbusters in Vijay’s career.

Bahubali writer V Vijayendra Prasad took inspiration from Thiruvengadam and penned the script for the film.

For four decades he had been a demigod to Vyasarapadi and Erukkencheri people in Chennai.

He used to charge just Rs 5 for any treatment.Daily his hospital had been filled with hundreds of patients and the people severely missing their god.

Thiruvengadam’s wife is a retired railway employee and his only son is into medicine in Mauritius.
