Rohit Sharma needs longer time to achieve better results: Saurav Ganguly

New Delhi, Aug 18 : Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly has been reticent about making comparisons between Indian captain Rohit Sharma with other captains, saying that each captain has their own perspective of the sport and their own method of leading the team.
The former captain said that Rohit Sharma has distinct leadership qualities, while the other had something distinct.

He added that Rohit as captain has a relaxed and calm manner of conduct and he should be given time to show better results.

“Rohit Sharma has an element of an easygoing attitude.

He likes to approach things in an extremely calm and collected manner. He isn’t in a rush at all times, he takes things in an extremely cautious manner, and is not someone who is in your face every single day,” Ganguly said on the outskirts of an event in Kolkata.

“MS Dhoni was able to handle the change superbly. And then came Virat Kohli, who has an impressive record. He was a different kind of captain.he was a unique leader.

Each person is unique I don’t judge captains, every captain has their own method of leading,” he added.

Due to a busy cricket schedule, Rohit didn’t captain India in the 3-0 ODI series victory over the West Indies in Trinidad.

In his absence the left-handed opener Shikhar Dhawan was able to lead the team and did well in the role.

Ganguly was awed by Rohit and stated that he ought to be given a bit of time to be and compared with other players like of MS Dhoni and Kohli.

“When you support someone, let the captain take over, give him a little bit of time to deliver the results and observe the results,” he said.

In response to a question about the FIFA banning Indian football, Ganguly said, “I do not deal with football, so I will not be capable of answering the question.

But I believe that all sports bodies have a protocol, every sports body has rules and regulations. The BCCI is no exception.BCCI also have protocols and rules.”
