Mysuru 15 Aug : To commemorate the anniversary of the country’s 75th Independence Day, former India all-rounder Roger Binny hoisted the national flag at the Srikantadatta Narasimha Raja Wadiyar Ground in Mysuru on Monday.
Binny who also serves as the president of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) is currently managing the hosting of the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20.

Binny was also a member of the Indian team which was crowned the ODI World Cup in 1983 and is widely acknowledged to have been a key part of the national team playing 27 Tests and 72 ODIs.

In attendance with Binny was KSCA Treasurer Vinay Mruthyunjaya, as well as the captains of the six teams of the Maharaja Trophy, Manish Pandey of Gulbarga Mystics, Mayank Agarwal of Bengaluru Blasters, Karun Nair of Mysuru Warriors, K Gowtham of Shivamogga Strikers, Samarth R of Mangalore United and Navneet Sisodia of Hubli Tigers (though Abhimanyu Mithun is the regular captain).

To celebrate the occasion of India’s 75th Independence Day, Mangalore United will play Bengaluru Blasters in the afternoon match, while Gulbarga Mystics will take on Hubli Tigers in the evening game which will be played in Mysuru.

Mangalore are top of the table of points with 8 points from 5 games, then Bengaluru, Mysore and Gulbarga with six points.

Hubli are with four points and Gulbarga is at the at the bottom of the table with two points.

The matches on Monday will be the last two matches in Mysore prior to the tournament moving to the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru starting on August 17 until the final on the 26th of August.
