London, Dec 17 : The Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan will play for English County cricket club Sussex in the upcoming season, the club said in a statement on Friday.This will be the Afghan leg-spinner’s fourth spell with the Sussex.

The 23-year-old is the fourth-highest wicket-taker in T20 history with 403 in 292 matches and has taken 26 wickets in 23 games for Sussex.

After signing the agreement with the County Club, Rashid said, “I have always enjoyed my time at Sussex and am more determined than ever to try and help bring the T20 Blast title back to Hove.The squad will look a little different this season with some key players that have moved on but the youngsters coming though impressed me greatly in recent seasons and combined with some new faces I think it is a really exciting time to be a Sharks fan.” “He’s the best in the business and we are truly lucky to have him” said Sussex Twenty20 coach James Kirtley.

“It is great to know we have developed a long-standing relationship with the best T20 spinner in the world and not to forget his dynamic batting which we witnessed against Yorkshire in last year’s quarter-final,” he said.

“It will be amazing to have his services for the majority of the T20 Blast along with our two other overseas players.This puts us in an enviable position of being able to react to the ever-changing landscape of international cricket,” the coach added.

The Sussex will host the Afghan leg-spinner for the fourth time.
With 403 wickets taken in 292 matches, the 23-year old is fourth in T20 history.

He has also taken 26 wickets for Sussex in 23 T20 games.

Rashid, who signed the contract with County Club said that he had always loved his time at Sussex, and is more motivated than ever to help return the T20 Blast title to Hove.

Although the squad may look different with key players leaving, I was impressed by how excited and enthusiastic they were in previous seasons.

James Kirtley, coach of Sussex Twenty20 said that “He is the best in business” and was truly a blessing to have him.

He said, “It’s great to have a long-standing relationship and to see his dynamic batting against Yorkshire last year in the quarter-final.”

It will be an honor to have him as a player for most of the T20 Blast, along with the two overseas players.The coach said that this puts them in a unique position to be able to adapt to changing international cricket landscapes.
