Before the much-awaited Malayalam movie “King of Kotha” premiered, the film’s core team, led by Dulquer Salmaan, visited Hyderabad for a pre-release event.This event was made even better with the presence of Telugu stars Rana Daggubati and Nani, who came to support Dulquer, their friend.
Rana Daggubati’s speech at the event has become a talking point in the film industry.During his speech, he indirectly commented about a Bollywood actor while praising Dulquer.
Although he didn’t say the actor’s name directly, people quickly figured out that he was talking about Sonam Kapoor.She had acted alongside Dulquer in the movie “The Zoya Factor” in 2019.
After his comments sparked discussions, Rana himself apologized, explaining that his words were misunderstood.He also mentioned that Sonam was his friend.Rana’s speech went like this: when they were both studying acting, Dulquer was Rana’s junior.They became friends during that time.
Later, Dulquer was working on a Hindi film, and Rana visited the set since it was close to his home.He saw Dulquer patiently waiting while a well-known Hindi actress was on the phone with her husband, shopping.
Dulquer was calm and took multiple shots as needed, despite the interruptions.Rana expressed his displeasure to the film’s producers afterwards.
To address the controversy, Rana apologized on social media, saying that his comments about Sonam were untrue and meant in a playful way.He regretted any negativity his words caused and apologized to both Sonam and Dulquer.
“King of Kotha” is a period gangster film directed by Abhilash Joshiy, son of veteran filmmaker Joshiy.The film is set to be released this month during Onam.
