Ravichandran Ashwin suggests to include ‘Free Ball’ into the guidelines like Free Hit for batsmen.
Ever since Ravichandran Ashwin of Kings Xi Punjab had dismissed Rajasthan Royals’ Jos Buttler through mankading, the debate of ‘‘ethics’’ of the game has been on a discussion.
Now, as the IPL 2020 is nearing, the discussion has gone deep into a heated argument among the experts. While Ricky Ponting has declared mankading as not a fair move, Dinesh Karthik has come to rescue Ashwin saying it as “within the rules”.
Consequently, Ashwin has once again come up with an understandable suggestion. He asked to make a ‘free ball’ if the non-striker steps out of the crease before the delivery.
Citing the ‘Free Hit’ he tweeted ‘Make it a free ball for the bowler. If the batsmen gets out of that ball, the batting team will be docked 5 runs.
Free hit adds to the drama for a batter, let’s give a chance to the bowlers too.As of now, everyone watches the game hoping that ‘the bowlers will get smacked today’’ (sic).
Many Cricket fans feel Ashwin’s idea is a fair-one while a few think it is not possible as Cricket is said to be a batsmen game. The whole incident was triggered in 2019 when Ashwin got RR’s Jos Buttler out in a crucial chase of 185 runs against KXiP.
