“I found it amazing,” Tarantino said.

“I saw it in the theaters.

The film, as our great acquaintance Brett Easton Ellis says, that and (Steven) Spielberg’s West Side Storyboth provided a real cinematic spectacle one that I was tempted to think that I couldn’t possibly see again. It was awe-inspiring.”

One issue he asked prior to when he saw the sequel said Tarantino one of the questions was how to create a Top Gun sequel that isn’t directed by Tony Scott.

Tarantino claimed he talked to actor Tom Cruise about that, in the documentary “Deadline,” a movie.

“It was not so much (of concern) as a) issue,” said the director.

“I think the possibility that if he was going to do it, he has a good grasp on it.However, I did question him.I asked him: ‘How can you make Top Gun without Tony Scott What do you think? And he says”I know.Look, I’m sure. You’re right. That’s why I’ve always said “No.” In all the years I’ve always said “No” because of this exact reason.(but) we found the way to solve it.We came up with an excellent story.”

“There was this wonderful charming aspect, as I am a huge fan of both Tony Scott’s films so deeply, and I love Tony so that (Top Gun: Maverick is) as close as we’ll ever to be to seeing another Tony Scott movie,” Tarantino stated.

“(Director Joseph Kosinski) did an amazing job.The respect and love of Tony was evident in every scene. It was in every single decision.

It was in the forefront however, it was done in this amazing manner that was respectful.I believe that it was in every decision Tom (Cruise) made about the movie.”

Tarantino repeated: “It’s the closest we’re ever going to get to watching another Tony Scott movie, and it was a great one.”

Tarantino also described the scene Cruise shares with Val Kilmer “almost too inexpensive, but it’s effective. It certainly does the job.”
