Indonesia is currently the holder of the G20 presidency.

Widodo has been invited by Putin However, the Kremlin has not yet verified the Russian President’s plans.

Bloomberg was unable to get confirmation of Putin and Xi’s attendance plans from Russian and Chinese sources.

Putin’s presence in the summit has been seen as to be a problem in the West due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine and a number of nations have put in doubt whether they will be able to participate in the event if he was present in person.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is also invited.

China is also experiencing increased tensions with the US which were further aggravated due to US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s recent visit Taiwan that was followed by the US congressional delegation who visited Taipei.

Beijing declared the moves to be provocative and launched massive military manoeuvres all over the island nation of democratic republic in reaction.

Indonesia is looking for investment and trade, but is not looking to join any group, Widodo told Bloomberg.

“Indonesia is looking to have a relationship with everybody,” he said.

“We don’t have any issues with any nation.”
