Putin, Erdogan meet to strengthen the Russia-Turkey relationship

Moscow 6 August : Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan swore to improve bilateral relations in their discussions in the Russian city of Sochi.
Putin and Erdogan on Friday agreed to increase trade volumes in a fair manner and to meet their respective expectations in the energy and economic sectors, Xinhua news agency reported in the joint press statement released following their summit in the Black Sea resort city.

In the document, leaders have pledged to take concrete steps to increase collaboration in the transportation sector and industry, commerce, agriculture tourism, finance, tourism, and construction.

Putin and Erdogan have praised the Russia-Ukraine export agreement signed earlier this month in Turkey’s Istanbul and stressed the importance of ensuring its full implementation, which includes the free export of Russia’s grain, fertilizers and other raw materials.

The group also discussed situation in Syria as well as Libya in the statement.
