Sangrur 5 August : Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday laid the foundation Stone of the Sant Attar Singh State Institute of Medical Sciences at Mastuana Sahib in Sangrur district to be built on an area of 25 acres with an estimated cost of approximately 345 crores.Reiterating the pledge of the administration to provide high-quality Medical services to the population the Chief Minister said the institute would be one step in this direction.
He stated that this project is an ode to humility and a fitting dedication to the legendary religious leader Sant Attar Singh, who spread the idea of unconditional love, peace, and harmony to the masses.
Mann also spoke of the tremendous impact of Sant Attar Singh in spreading the light of education in the entire region.
The Chief Minister had envisioned that the college with MBBS seats would emerge as Sangrur as a major hub of Medical training in all of the region.
He added that in addition to the building of the academic block the project will also involve upgrading of the existing Civil Hospital Sangrur from 220 bed to 360 beds as well as the construction of nursing schools and separate hostels for junior and senior boys and girls, and other things.
The Chief Minister stated that the new Medical institute will be a key point for providing high-quality health healthcare and Medical education services to Punjab in general and the Malwa region in particular.
He instructed officers to ensure the work for this ambitious task was finished in an orderly manner and stated that all work will be done by March 31 2023.
The academic session will begin on April 1.
