CM of Punjab had conspired with Badals: Amarinder

Chandigarh 23 Nov : , Amarinder Singh, former Chief Minister of Punjab ridiculed Charanjit Singh Channi on Tuesday for accusing him of “conniving with the Badals” in an attack that has harmed Punjab’s interest.
He claimed it was actually the reverse, since it had been Channi that conspired with the Badals and surrendered to them in order to save his brother from the Ludhiana Centre case.

Amarinder Singh stated, “It’s a classic example of the pot calling the kettle black,” adding that “It wasn’t me who was responsible for Channi, who pledged his support to the Badals in order to save his brother.”

Amarinder Singh responded to Channi’s allegations by saying, “Although he (Channi’s) frequent false accusations have forced him to reveal his capitulation in front of Sukhbir Singh Bal in 2007 in order to save his brother who was also an accused in the Ludhiana Centre case.”

Amarinder Singh said that he had placed the Badals behind bars in 2002, and that they had, in revenge, filed a false case.He fought the court for 13 years.

Channi was at the time an Independent MLA and had attempted to make peace with them in order to save his brother.

He told Channi that it wasn’t me who was able to understand the Badals.It was you (Channi), who joined them in saving your brother in the case in which I was also accused.” He added, saying that people living in glass homes shouldn’t throw stones at each other.

He reminded Channi that “Had my aligned with Badals and gained some understanding with them”, he said, reminding him of Channi’s accusation, and challenging him to prove that he had not surrendered before Sukhbir Badal.
