Mumbai, December 14, 2008 : .Pune Jaguars, the defending champions, made an impressive start to their campaign at Tennis Premier League 3.0.They defeated Gujarat Panthers 45-35 here on Tuesday.After losing their first rubber, Chennai Stallions won the second match to beat Delhi Binnys Brigade 43-37. Rutuja played well, and she was in complete control of the baseline against Valeryla Strakhova (Ukranian).
Rutuja won the first best singles 20 point match 12-8.Vijay Sundar Prashant was then beaten by Ishaque 11-9.Saketh Myneni joined Rutuja in the mixed doubles.His booming serves were supported by Rutu’a’s excellent hands at the net, which saw him defeat Valeryla and Dhivij Sharan 12-8.
It was an exciting match, as Dhivij Sundar and Vijay Sundar rallied from 7-10 down in the final m’n’s doubles to tie the rubber at 10-10.This ended the match with a positive note.
Peangtarn Plipuech from Thailand gave Delhi an early win.She defeated Samantha Murray Sharan (12-8) in the women’s singles.Siddharth Rawat, a solid player at the baseline, beat Manish Sureshkumar (11-9), and restored parity to Chennai.Purav Raja, a doubles expert joined Samantha to defeat Yuki Bhambri (13-7), and Prangtarn (13-7) in the mixed singles.
Raja and Rawat won the last match 11-9 and completed the victory.
