Chennai 9 August : Puducherry Chief Minister N.Rangasamy called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Tuesday.This was the first time that the Puducherry Chief Minister has met with the Prime Minister following taking office 15 months earlier.
Rangasamy was criticized for not having a conversation with the Prime Minister, even though his party All India NR Congress (AINRC) was an alliance member of the BJP.There were criticisms that Chief Ministers from the opposition like Pinarayi Vijayan of Kerala, Mamata Banerjee of West Bengal and M.K.Stalin of Tamil Nadu regularly meet with the Prime Minister, even though they strongly disagree with the central government’s policies.

Rangasamy met with the Prime Minister on the day prior to the Puducherry assembly is scheduled to meet on Wednesday.

The government must approve the budget for this fiscal year by August 31.

The administration of the Union Territory had passed a vote on an Account for Rs 3613 crore on the day of March 31.The purpose was to cover the costs of the government of the territory for five months until August 31.

The Puducherry government in an announcement said that the Chief Minister was in a lengthy conversation with PM Modi regarding the status of the Union Territory and also extending the GST compensation.
