New Delhi, Aug 17 : The Delhi High Court on Wednesday in taking up with a case relating to Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali “Coronil,” observed that the general public should not be misled when making statements about allopathy. “You are allowed to have followers, and you’re welcome to have your followers, who will believe in what you claim to be saying.
But please don’t deceive the general public by saying that you know more than what is official says,” Justice Anup J.Bhambhani orally stated.
The court was in the process of dealing with an action filed by a number of doctors’ associations claiming that Ramdev’s public statements has an impact on them since Coronil is not a cure for coronavirus and is a lie.
Senior attorney Akhil Sibal who represented the associations of doctors said Patanajali’s Coronil product was advertised as treatment for Covid without a licence. The case will be considered on August 23rd.
In the previous hearing, Sibal had said that the Patanjali website claims that Coronil is a treatment for Covid-19.
In a previous complaint of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Ramdev has allegedly been spreading false information on social media platforms about drugs utilized by the medical fraternity as well as the Indian government as well as the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) as well as other frontline organizations engaged in the care of Covid patients.
