Patiala 25 Aug : Former Minister of External Affairs and MP Patiala Preneet Kaur on Thursday, held a demonstration with women from different districts of Punjab before handing over a memorandum the Deputy Commissioner of Patiala.In her address to the audience, she said, “The Aam Aadmi Party led by Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann made a promise to the citizens of Punjab prior to the Vidhan Sabha elections that, if elected, they will pay Rs.1,000 per month to every woman over 18 in the state.
“But now it’s been six months since the election and there is no evidence of the government delivering on one of its most important promises to voters.”
She stated “There is an increasing discontent among women as they feel deceived by the government over their failure to implement of the promise made of the AAP government.It is our right, which was given to us by the government.And should the Punjab government fails to meet the promise by October, we will organize massive protests against them across the Punjab.”
In a discussion about the Captain Amarinder Singh regime, the Patiala MP stated, “During his tenure Captain Amarinder Singh implemented many pro-women policies, including giving women the right to travel on buses for free, fifty percent reservation in local Bodies as well as Panchayati Raj elections, increase the number of “shagun” schemes as well as many other.”
In response to a query from the media about the justice march of singer Sidhu Moosewala she stated, “Loss of such young life is truly tragic and heartbreaking.Sidhu Moosewala was killed in the open air and it is only natural that his family is seeking justice.I am fully supporting them in their pursuit of justice.”
In handing the memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney The MP said, “I stand before you as a representative of the women of Punjab in our efforts to ask that the Punjab government urgently take action to fulfill its promise to the common folks.
“I also would like to inform the government via you that the vendetta tactics that they’re playing with us cannot be accepted.”
