Releasing new films on the AP Fiber Net is not correct said prominent Producer, exhibitor, and Telugu Film Producers Council Joint Secretary Natti Kumar. The Andhra Pradesh government decided to allow people to watch new films on the release date at their homes.
The program will be inaugurated on Friday in Vizag.
Producer Natti Kumar reacted to this and said: “Government is saying it will let people watch new films on the release date which is not available anywhere in India. As a producer, exhibitor, distributor, and Joint Secretary of the Telugu Film Producers Council, I am opposing this. How can the decision be taken without consulting Telugu Film Industry, Producers Council Film Chamber, and without calling for a joint meeting, he asked.
Back in 2013, the proposal of releasing films on the release date on Airtel DTH was made. But it did not become a success. How can the proposal become a success when producers won’t come forward? The idea would damage the exhibitors and distribution system. That’s why, not just the exhibitors and distributors, but the majority of producers are also against this.AP Film Development Corporation Chairman Posani Krishna Murali did not call for a meeting with industry people and how can the idea be implemented without discussion.
The exhibition system was severely hit already and with the proposal made by the state government, the system will get even more impacted.
The inauguration of the new service is being made without informing film producers and other industry members.I got to know that AP Ministers Gopalakrishna, Gudivada Amarnath, F.D.C Chairman Posani, Sudarshan Reddy, and others are attending. It is a wonder that without informing the industry people and inviting them the ceremony was planned.I am requesting Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to rethink this and take a decision which will not cause trouble for anyone, Natti Kumar maintained.
