New Delhi, November 17, : .The Centre told the Supreme Court that they were not asking Central government workers to return to normal working hours after the Covid pandemic.

Instead, it issued an advisory for employees encouraging them to pool and share vehicles.
The Centre, in an affidavit, said the number of vehicles used for the Central government business in NCR was not very significant, therefore “the Central government decided that in view of the recent normalisation of functioning of Central government offices post-Covid pandemic, the advantage of not passing work from home direction would outweigh the advantages which would be gained from work from home directions”.

In an affidavit to the Centre, it stated that the Centre did not have sufficient vehicles for Central government business in NCR.Therefore, “the Central government determined that the benefits of working from home would be outweighed by the disadvantages of having work done from home.”

The affidavit added, “Instead, DoPT Government of India has issued an advisory for the Central Government officers and staff for pooling and sharing of vehicles to the maximum extent possible so that number of the Central Government vehicles plying for commuting of officers and staff are reduced substantially”.According to the affidavit, the DoPT Government of India issued an advisory for Central Government officials and staff urging them to pool and share vehicles as much as possible in order that the number of Central Government vehicles used for staff and officer commutes is reduced significantly.

The top court has started hearing the matter.The matter has been heard by the top court.Previously, the top court had asked the Centre and state government to hold an emergency meeting to propose steps to curb air pollution in the capital.The top court previously asked the Centre of State and Government to convene an emergency meeting in order to discuss steps that could be taken to reduce air pollution in the Capital.
