Police arrested a YSRCP leader in gelatin sticks blast case in Kadapa

Kadapa police have arrested YSRCP leader C Nageshwar Reddy and supplier of explosives, Raghunath Reddy in connection with the recent gelatin sticks blast in the Kadapa district.Kadapa SP Anburajan announced that the two were arrested and remanded.

It is reported that, on August 8, at least 10 workers died in an explosion at a limestone quarry in Mamillapally village in the Kalasapadu zone of the Kadapa district.

Nageswarareddy took GPA in 2013 for managing the mine.

SP Anburajan said there were no environmental clearances in this regard and hence, no explosions were allowed here.The SP said that notices would also be issued to the actual owners of the mine.

He said Raghunath Reddy had a license to supply explosives but he did not take proper care of their transportation.Against this backdrop, Raghunath Reddy was also interrogated, said SP.

The SP of Kadapa said that 1000 gelatin sticks and 120 detonators caused the accident in Pulvendula.According to the information available, the explosion took place while moving the explosives from the car to the quarry.

The SP said that he had written letters to the concerned authorities for clarification on various issues related to the mine and would take further action after receiving the explanation from them.
