Chennai, Nov 30, : A 28 year-old woman was taken into custody by Vyperi police in Chennai.She allegedly claimed that she was robbed by two people of Rs 2.5 lakh.This she received after she had sold her baby. Yasmin, the woman in the complaint, had stated that she sold her baby and received Rs 2.5 lakh in return.She claimed that the baby was robbed by the brokers who arranged the sale.
According to police, the woman had claimed that she met Jayageetha at a Kellys hospital, where she had been for a medical check-up.
Jayageetha was told by Yasmin that she was pregnant at the time and that she was aborting her foetus because she didn’t have the means to raise the child.
Jayageetha convinced Yasmin to give birth to the baby, and she claimed that the child could be sold to make money.
Jayageetha advised Yasmin to bring her baby boy after Yasmin gave birth on November 21 at Washermenpet Government Hospital.According to the complaint, Yasmin and her baby boy met Jayageetha.
According to the complaint Yasmin gave Jayageetha the child to Jayageetha along with her associate Dhanam.They gave her Rs 2.5 lakh in return.Jayageetha had two male accomplices who were also present.
Yasmin claimed that Jayageetha’s two male accomplices followed her as she was riding in an auto-rickshaw home.They intercepted the vehicle and took the money.
IANS was told by a senior officer of police that they were skeptical about Yasmin’s complaint.
The police investigated and found that the auto driver had told them Yasmin had made up her story and that the money was with Yasmin.
Jayageetha Dhanam, Shivakumar and Shivakumar — who were the ones who bought the child — have been also arrested.Jayageetha’s male accomplices are being sought.
“We were almost certain she was fabricating the story and wanted to confirm a few facts.IANS was informed by a police officer that she confessed to the truth after being questioned.
He stated that Jayageetha and Dhanam will be questioned to determine if they have ever bought a child before or if it was their first time.
