Ramadoss asked Chief Minister Stalin to include Mathiyan on the list of prisoners who would be granted amnesty for medical reasons, as Mathiyan is suffering from several age-related diseases.

Stalin had made an announcement at the state assembly under Rule 110 regarding amnesty for 700 convicts in commemoration of Annadurai’s anniversary.

The state Home department has already issued guidelines for convicts who fall within the eligible categories for amnesty.

Ramadoss tweeted Friday that “It was unjustifiable by the state government for refusing to grant premature release for Mathiyan despite him spending 34 years behind bars.”

The leader of the PMK also stated that Mathiyan had been released prematurely by the Madras High Court.
