Perpetuity of public grievances grew in July

New Delhi, Aug 19 : The number of complaints from the public in the Central Secretariat increased from 94,810 cases in June to 1,035,558 cases at the conclusion of July.
According to the Department of Public Grievances, in July, 77,414 complaints were submitted to the CPGRAMS portal, of which 68,567 cases were resolved and there was an indefinite pendency of 1,03,558 cases.

The Ministry of Labour and Employment, Department of Financial Services (Banking Division), Central Board of Direct Taxes (Income Tax) as well as the Department of Posts received the highest quantity of complaints in July.

The Department of Land Resources, Department of Public Enterprises and Department of Expenditure turned out to be the top performers in the grievance index for redressal (GRI) in July.

The report noted that the quality of services and speedy resolution of grievances has improved comparison of the GRI for the months of June and July.

It stated that 22 departments or ministries are awaiting more than 1000 grievances pending as of July 25 The Ministry of Cooperation (18,203) and Department of Health and Family Welfare (11,644) have the highest number of grievances pending over a period of more than 45 calendar days.

Additionally, Department of Financial Service (Banking Division) has the most number of public grievances under the category of corruption with 1,111 grievances pending.

Six ministries and departments , including the Ministry of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Department of Scientific & Industrial Research, Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Steel and Department of Defence Finance have improved their July GRI rankings by 10 or more positions when compared to June.

In the same way, Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Department of Health Research, Ministry of Power and the Department of Investment & Public Asset Management experienced a drop in the July GRI ranking of over 10 positions in comparison to June.
