London, December 28, 2018 : .England’s all-rounder Moeen Ali has asked the cricket board of his country to focus more on red-ball cricket after the Ashes series collapse.He cited the success of limited-overs, which helped the team win the 2019 World Cup. England was defeated in the Ashes third Test.This also happened after Australia’s 14-run demolishment at the MCG.England is now at 0-3 in five Test series.
Moeen said that he had retired from Test cricket to continue his white-ball career.He stated that the failure in 2015’s Cricket World Cup in Australia and New Zealand was what had prompted England’s growth in limited-overs cricket.
A similar template could then be used for red-ball cricket following the Ashes.
England was out of the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup quarterfinals.
But four years later, they won the Cup by winning the Cup at Lord’s.New Zealand lost the final in 2019 on the boundary count-back rule.
Both teams scored 241 runs, resulting in the match ending in a tie.
Moeen said to BT Sports that it had worked, as we won (50-over), the World Cup in 2019, and have done well in white-ball Cricket.
It has been successful.”I feel now that white-ball cricket has become so strong and stable — the foundations, players, and we know our game, Eoin Morison leads that amazing well.I believe we also need this in red-ball cricket,” Moeen added.
Moeen was a crucial part of the IPL 2021 win for Chennai Super Kings.
He called for improvements in India’s premier-class cricket to achieve results.Moeen, 34 years old, also stated that he saw the Ashes disaster coming.
“I do not think that we have been good enough.It has actually been coming.
This team has been a part of my life.That was not too long ago.It was almost as if we had to cover up the problems at home.
