The Pakistani Interior Ministry cancels NoC of ARY News

Islamabad 12 August : The Pakistani Ministry of Interior has cancelled the NoC of ARY News, the TV network announced on Friday.
The coalition government headed by Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) has taken a further step in the direction of the economic death of the journalist community by announcing the cancellation of the NoC of ARY News, the channel reported.

The demise of NoC will mean the economic death of over 4,000 professionals in the media industry who are associated with NoC, ARY News said.

The move was made after the broadcast of an unpopular speech by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and Imran Khan’s Chief of Staff Shahbaz Gill on ARY News.

The channel also clarified that Gill’s comment was his own opinion and had nothing to do with the channel’s policy.have anything to do with the channel’s policies.

The administration of the channel has condemned the suspension of its broadcasts, claiming the channel is being harmed by the federal government.

On the 10th of August the Sindh High Court (SHC) had ordered the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) to immediately restore the channel’s broadcast across Pakistan.

The channel went off air in various areas of the nation on Monday night, without notice from the authorities.

The SHC bench was able to hear the plea regarding the suspension of ARY News and issued instructions to the cable operators to immediately resume the transmission of the TV channel’s broadcast, ARY News reported.

In a 10-page order the court also suspended the show-cause notice sent to ARY News by Pemra.The SHC also prevented the authority that regulates media from removing the license of the TV channel until the next hearing.

The court also issued an order to Pemra and the deputy attorney general, and delayed the hearing until the 17th of August.
