Pakistani Prime Minister reaffirms his commitment to children’s rights

Islamabad : , Nov 20, 2010 – Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan reaffirmed Saturday his government’s determination to protect children’s rights in Pakistan and provide a brighter future for all children.
According to Xinhua, Pakistan’s prime minister stated that the government of Pakistan is committed to ensuring every child’s right, which includes development, education and healthcare.

Khan stated, “On this Day, let’s reaffirm the pledge to protect children’s rights in Pakistan and give them equal chances to be productive citizens of Pakistan.”

According to him, the government’s current administration has taken several steps to protect children’s rights in the country.He mentioned the creation of a national child rights commission and the addition of child protection institutes.Also, various laws are being put into place to eradicate child labor.

The prime minister also announced that other welfare programs, including nutrition support for malnourished children, and universal healthcare through health cards, have been initiated.

He also said that a green and clean Pakistani initiative was launched to benefit the future generations.
