New Delhi, December 29 : , Senators from Pakistan’s Opposition Parties protested Wednesday against the government’s decision to ignore the Parliament when making the National Security Policy (NSP), approved earlier in the week.Express Tribune reported. Pakistan Peoples Party Senator Sherryrehman stated that the House did not receive a draft of the security strategy from the government.According to the report, PPP leaders claimed that the approved policy is nothing more than a paper document that contradicts ground reality.
Further, she criticized the government for a Bill which gives complete autonomy to State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), in accordance with International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) requirements.Sherry asked about the security of the government when the IMF dictates the economy and the SBP are being sublet.
Mohsin Aziz (PTI Senator), interrupted the speech of the PPP senator and advised that she get to the point, not make a speech.Rehman protested the comments and staged an occupation.
Moeed Yusuf, National Security Advisor (NSA), had on Tuesday announced that Pakistan’s First-ever National Security Policy was approved by the Federal Cabinet.
The NSA tweeted that “It’s a historic achievement.A citizen-centric comprehensive National Security Policy with economic security as the core will now been pursued in earnest.”
The National Security Committee approved NSP 2022-2026 a day before.This plan aims to strengthen the country’s economy and address both internal and external challenges.
