Washington, November 23, : , More than 90% of US federal employees had received at least one dose Covid-19 vaccine by November 22.This was the deadline set by President Joe Biden for all workers in the nation to be vaccinated.According to Xinhua, the top administration official said that the vast majority of the 3.5million employees included in the mandate were fully vaccinated.This was according to a quote by Xinhua.The statement was made Monday to National Public Radio (NPR), Xinhua reported.
According to the official, an additional 5 percent have asked for or received an exemption or extension.
Biden declared in September that all federal employees over the age of 3.5million had to be vaccinated.They also have to receive regular testing unless an exemption has been granted by a medical or religious doctor.
The national rate of vaccination was still at 70 percent.
Jen Psaki, White House Press Secretary, stated that there may be an urgency to submit paperwork and meet requirements.
Federal employees that don’t follow the mandate by Monday will not be fired immediately.
The agencies will keep processing documents and consider exemptions for medical necessity.
Employees who don’t comply with the requirements will receive education and counseling.
To date, approximately 69.4% of all Americans have had at least one dose (230,298,744) of Covid-19 vaccine.
The total number of fully vaccinated persons was 196,284,442, which accounts for 59%.
Federal data shows that 35,393,770 individuals, which is 18% of fully-vaccinated, received booster shots.
