Sujit Chakraborty Guwahati 25 December : .More than 840 students from the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT-G), have received job offers during the first phase of placement.Officials said that one student had been offered a Rs 2.05 crore per annum package by a multinational firm.
Abhishek Kumar (IIT-G Centre for Career Development Head) stated that 843 students received job offers in the first phase.This is an unprecedented number in IIT-G’s 27-year-old history.
It was 610 more students who were offered jobs in 2020.
Kumar explained to IANS that Rohit Negi (student at IIT-G in Computer Science and Engineering) received a Rs 2.05 crore per annum Uber package.
According to him, the average annual cost of the placement drive for all students was Rs 23.73 lakh and the minimum salary is Rs 6.25 lakh.
IIT-G graduates were offered jobs at Google, Microsoft, Apple, Graviton and Goldman Sachs.
Kumar, Associate Professor in Civil Engineering’s Department of Civil Engineering said that students were very excited by the significant increase in offers for placements in the initial phase.
They are excited to meet new people and see the companies who have been selected.Students who did not previously register to participate in the placement phase two are now registering.
He said that a number of companies are interested in participating in phase two as well.
According to another official at the IIT-G, a student who was quoted by the IIT-G said that they felt happy after receiving job offers.
Students thanked IIT-G for providing them with a chance to succeed in their futures and Abhishek Kumar, who managed all aspects of the placement process.
IIT-G began in 1994, and celebrated 25 years of its existence in 2019.
The institute currently has 11 departments and five inter-disciplinary academic centers.It also offers four schools that cover all major disciplines, including engineering, science, and humanities.
T.G.Sitharam has more than 6000 students and offers 412 faculty members a residence campus.
IIT-G, in addition to its research and teaching excellences, has fulfilled the hopes of many people in the Northeast Region since 1994.
“The picturesque campus lies on an expansive 285-hectare parcel on the Brahmaputra north bank, just 20 kilometers from the heart of Guwahati,” said a spokesperson for the institution.
IIT-G, the Indian academic institution that has occupied the highest ranking 100 universities in the world for less than 50 years is unique.
It was ranked in the 2014 London Times Higher Education rankings.This position continues today with various international rankings.
