Chennai 18 August : AIADMK leader and former Chief Minister O.Panneerselvam (OPS) on Thursday extended an offer of support to his rival Edappadi K.Palaniswami (EPS) the day after a single judge of the Madras High Court cancelled the general council meeting of July 11 of the party in which he was exiled from the party together with his close friends. In a press conference in Chennai, OPS said that Palaniswami was his “dear brother” and let “bygones be bygones’.
He stated that the joint leadership of the party was sought to move the party forward following the demise of the former Chief Minister and AIADMK general secretary J.Jayalalithaa.
He stated that following the death of “Amma,” Palaniswami was appointed the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and they had traveled extensively together.
He declared that the 1.5 million strong cadre of the AIADMK would like to see to see the government of MGR as well as J.Jayalalithaa in the state, and that to achieve this the party must be together.He demanded Palaniswami to join forces to fight the current ruling class and to remove them from power.
But, EPS has already moved the division bench of the Madras High Court against the single bench’s decision and in his petition, he clearly declared that the single bench’s decision was against the general council meeting of the party.
He declared that the court had a hand in the internal activities of the party.
In the meantime, sources in the OPS camp have told IANS that the former Chief Minister had started discussions with The Thevar community leaders of South Tamil Nadu for an collaboration with V.K.Sasikala as well as TTV Dhinakaran and not to divide Thevar votes.Thevar votes.
The second bench of the Madras High Court will be hearing the case on the 22nd of August and sources in the AIADMK informed IANS that both OPS as well as EPS camps are waiting with bated breath for the decision.
