Only Assam Residents Are Allowed To Appear In Assam Civil Services Exams: CM

Guwahati : , Wednesday, November 24, 2014 – Assam’s BJP government decided Wednesday that only residents of Assam would be permitted to appear for the examinations at the Assam Public Service Commission and the Assam Civil Service.
The Assam cabinet made the decision at its meeting presided over by Chief Minister Himanta Biwa Sarma.

 Only Assam Residents Are Allowed To Appear In Assam Civil Services Exams:

Sarma addressed the media after the cabinet meeting and stated that while it was mandatory for candidates to know Assamese earlier, it did not make sense for Assam students who had studied in English medium.According to him, the state cabinet decided to withdraw the language paper from the test for APSC or ACS.

“Though the language paper was removed from APSC examinations and ACS examinations,” the Chief Minister stated.

He stated that a Youth Commission would soon be established to offer training to youths in order to help them pursue higher education and find employment opportunities.

Wednesday’s cabinet meeting also decided to grant additional holidays on January 6th and 7 for employees of the state government, in addition to the usual holidays on Sunday and Saturday.

These additional holidays are only available to employees who have their parents and in-laws still alive.

These holidays would see employees, ministers, and senior officials staying with their parents or inlaws to receive their blessings at year’s beginning.The Chief Minister stated that the employees, parents, and officials of these ministers, officials, and employees’ in-laws were not present and they would not be Allowed to take these additional holidays.”
